Blogs of 4th grade students from Cambérène (Dakar, Senegal)
As part of the project "Alliance Internationale des Anneaux de la Mémoire, centre for resources and studies of the slave trade, slavery and digital solidarity" partly funded by the Fonds Francophone des Inforoutes de l he International Organization of La Francophonie, the Rings of Memory works alongside Senegalese, Cameroonian and Haitian partners.
Among the activities, the creation of digital content on the history of the slave trade and slavery by young people is planned.
We invite you to discover the activity set up by the African Center for Research on Trafficking and Slavery (MAP) of the University of Dakar (Senegal) with a 4th grade class from the College of Cambérène (outskirts of Dakar) and student work posted online.

For the 2011-2012 school year, the Collective for the Commemoration of the Abolition of Slavery and the Slave Trade of Angers (CCAETN) and the Federation of Secular Works of Maine-et-Loire (FOL 49), have proposed to various schools in Maine-et-Loire to participate in a citizenship education and fight against discrimination project by offering students a logo competition for the CCAETN.
The main objectives of this project were to reflect on the universality of the human being et to raise awareness to avoid attitudes discrimination, struggle conducted based on knowledge of the history of slavery and human trafficking. It was based on a plastic arts competition aimed at CCAETN with a permanent logo.
The day of March 27
It was a day of fun and educational activities, exchanges at the new J. Bouessé Center in Mûrs Erigné from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., between groups of students and young people who took part in the competition with the exhibition of all the works produced.
Election of the three winning designs by the jury.
The jury was made up of 12 people, i.e. : 6 students and 6 representatives of the organizers and partners of the project.
The prizes awarded to the winners are :
- 1st prize : For the winning group, a day of discovery of the activities offered at the New Bouessé Center in Mûrs Erigné.
- 2nd prize : a set of material for the practice of plastic arts
- 3rd prize : a set of books.

The pedagogical team of the Libertarian College Rutigliano, intervening in European fourth class (year 2011-2012), set up a project entitled : "The slave trade, slavery and their legacies in through Arts and Letters. This project is the subject of an interdisciplinary work associating English, plastic arts, French, history-geography, and music.
Challenges
This educational device aims to introduce our students to the issues and repercussions of slavery and its abolition in the French and British colonial empires. With this in mind, we will offer students a range of educational activities including work done in class, but also educational outings allowing them to have a more concrete approach to this problem. This work will facilitate the beginning of a reflection on the freedom of peoples and the consequences of history on the functioning of our modern societies.
The main focuses of this project are as follows :
Know-how and know-how
study the issue of slavery in French and English through texts by Enlightenment writers, poems, novels, letters, films and documentaries
write texts in French and English (portrait, letter, report, argumentative text, short story, poem, etc.)
understand the historical issues related to slavery in History-Geography
discover the musical legacies linked to slavery
create a poster to advertise the exhibition on the slave trade in plastic arts

setting up of an exhibition on the slave trade and slavery produced by the Rings of Memory
visit of the exhibition " From Haiti to Guadeloupe, Cross-views " organized by the Rings of Memory at Espace Cosmopolis
realization of an educational trip in Great Britain (London, Manchester, Liverpool) in the cities involved in the slave trade
visit of the Abolition Memorial which will be inaugurated by the city of Nantes

This project is the subject of an interdisciplinary work combining English, plastic arts, French, history-geography, and music.

The Hautil high school in Jouy-le-Moutier (95): Ulysses and its history, a short story written by the students of Terminale BEP, Second and First Generals and members of the History Workshop for the commemoration of the May 10, 2008.
The Hautil high school in Jouy-le-Moutier (95) worked with the educational tools (exhibition and briefcase) of the Rings of Memory in 2008 to develop a project " France – Africa – Antilles » within the framework of "Educational Innovation", program of the Ile de France Region, Academy of Versailles, also subsidized by the Agglomeration Community of Cergy Pontoise West energies.
The action concerned the whole school when it closed with the commemorative day of May 10 (which took place on May 13, 2008) and, throughout the year, the students of Terminale BEP, Second and First Generals and members of the History Workshop.
